Introduction |
We start from Medicare School of Nursing in 1997 as the first academic unit of
the S.M. Sohail Trust at Medicare Hospital Karachi. Initially three years
diploma nursing program was established for female students only. In June 2003
the Medicare School of Nursing was relocated to the Jinnah Medical College
Hospital Korangi, Karachi. Here at this campus the female diploma nursing
program was replaced with Male diploma nursing program and the first batch of
male students was inducted in the year 2004 now again three year diploma program
was replaced for female in the year 2012. The program qualifies students to take
the licensure examination of Sindh Nurses Examination Board (SNEB ), which
enables its graduates to practice as qualified Registered Nurse in Pakistan. |

We start Jinnah College of Nursing in 2009 at Jinnah Medical & Dental College
(JMDC) Shaheed – E – Millat, Road Karachi. Initially we were launched Two Degree
Programs. |
- Post RN BSN (Evening program)
- Generic BSN (Morning program)

Both programs are recognized by Pakistan Nursing Council and affiliated with
Ziauddin University. In Jan 2012 the Jinnah College of Nursing was relocated to
the Jinnah Medical College Hospital Korangi, Karachi. Here at this campus only
morning program was transferred from JMDC as per Pakistan Nursing Council
decision. |

In order to enhance education in various fields of nursing, our institution is
recognized for post basic specialty programs i.e. Diploma in cardiac nursing &
Midwifery. |

Mission |
The mission of nursing education department of JMDC is to contribute towards
training those young men and women of Pakistan who wish to pursue Nursing as a
career to acquire both the art and science of nursing combining modern skills
with tradition of caring for the infirm, sick and the physical and mental
handicapped. |
Goals |
- Create an inclusive environment that reflects the mission & goals of the
institution.
- Develop and implement high quality, innovative diploma and undergraduate
education.
- Promote nursing and interprofessional evidence-based practice.
- Provide leadership in the transformation of health care.
- Provide community oriented nursing education to enable the graduates understand
the problems of the rural population.
